I’m a freelance Winter Mountain Leader, Rock Climbing Instructor, Climbing Wall Development Instructor and Foundation Climbing Coach based in Conwy, North Wales and a full team member of Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Team. I have a lifelong passion for the mountains, which has taken me to some amazing places to walk, scramble and climb. I am equally passionate about sharing my knowledge & skills in the hope that many others, like you have your own mountain adventures, and achieve personal ambitions and goals.

I have been fortunate enough to have trekked and climbed in Scotland, Switzerland, France, Italy, the Austrian Alps, Norway, the High Atlas of North Africa, the Western Ghats in India and the Annapurna Sanctuary of Nepal, leading successful expeditions to summit Mont Blanc, Jebel Toubkal and Annapurna Base Camp. I have a passion for multi pitch rock climbing & winter mountaineering.

I discovered a love for the mountains as a teenager after joining the Air Scouts. The South Wales group I was a member of, was very active, and regularly ran outdoor activities such as hill walking, camping, orienteering, climbing and kayaking to name a few. It was hill walking that planted the seed for me; I was drawn to the physical challenge of the hills and their remoteness. As luck would have it, I had the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons on my doorstep.

Fitness has always played a major role in my life and still does today, in my teens this was heavily influenced by football, martial arts and boxing; and later discovered trail running. I developed an obsession for studying maps and the Brecon Beacons became my training ground. I would often take my friends out walking and wild camping in the mountains and teach them navigation.

Later I signed up with the British Army reservists and was taught how to navigate to a very high standard, and how to look after myself in the field, often under very challenging conditions. I then went on to pass the British Special Forces, 21 SAS selection process during winter and complete continuation training. This unique experience and skills acquired has proved invaluable in my role as a Mountain Leader and Mountain Rescue team member.
